Who Cares

by Force Mass Motion

After a while away from the scene, Force Mass Motion aka Mike Wells is back in the game and proving he still has the same studio skills that made him a hot property from the 90s and into the start of the new millennium.

After launching on Colin Faver’s Rabbit City Records back in 1991 with the massive rave anthem ‘Panic’ he toured the world, with shows from the UK to Australia to the USA. In the coming years he went on to remix the likes of Moby, Adam F and PF Project, and eventually released on the well regarded Mute Records. He worked under names like Polaris and Cableguy, collaborated with Dylan Rhymes and played a key role in developing the breakbeat scene with tunes like ‘Hold Back’ and ‘Vanquish’ that took him to a deal with Critical Mass Recordings.

Wells also worked in sound design for the TV show Dark Angel, released the Silencer album that was dubbed the future of breakbeat, went on to work with Meat Katie’s Lot49 and recorded with UK Cream resident Paul Hillyer under the name Xpander. Now he puts all that experience into his fresh new sounds and remerges with a tune that is sure to win him plenty of new fans as well as remind his older ones what made him such a vital producer

The excellently arresting ‘Who Cares’ is a bristling, high energy track that draws on house, electro and techno to jump out the speakers with a real impact. Knotted basslines, cosmic synths and big chords all flesh out the speedy groove, with big vocals finishing it off in style next to the busy percussion.

This is a bold return for a real stalwart of the UK scene.
